Getting Started

It's a tool built specifically for you—on your phone, tablet, or computer—that does exactly what you need it to do. Think of it like a spreadsheet that's been turned into something beautiful, simple, and automatic.

For example, instead of tracking your homeschool curriculum in a Google Sheet, you'd have an app where you tap a student's name, see what's due, mark it complete, and watch progress update automatically. No formulas. No scrolling. Just clarity.

AI is changing how fast custom tools can be built. What used to cost $10,000+ and take months can now be done in days for a fraction of the cost. That's the good news.

The challenge is that AI can build things fast, but it doesn't know what YOU actually need. It doesn't understand your family's routine, your church's volunteer structure, or how your league manages goalies. That takes a human who listens, asks the right questions, and designs a system that fits your real life.

I use AI to accelerate the building. I bring the thinking, the design, and the real-world experience. That combination is what makes custom apps affordable and effective for people who've never had access to them before.

Families and small organizations that are underserved by mainstream software. My most common clients are:

• Homeschool families managing curriculum, schedules, and multiple kids
• Homesteaders tracking gardens, livestock, harvests, and equipment
• Small churches coordinating volunteers, events, and member care
• Sports leagues managing schedules, rosters, and communications
• Homeschool co-ops organizing shared classes and teacher rotations
• Work-from-home families balancing business and household under one roof

If you've ever thought "there should be an app for this," you're probably my kind of client.

You have two great starting points:

If you know what you need: Book a free 30-minute Discovery Call. You tell me what's not working. I listen, ask questions, and identify the one tool that would make the biggest difference. You'll leave with clarity and a clear quote — whether we work together or not.

If you're curious but not sure yet: Join an AI Jumpstart Session ($99, 2 hours). You'll see real apps in action, watch one get built live with AI, and identify your own "One Thing" — the single tool that would help you most. Many people find the Jumpstart gives them the clarity they need to take the next step.

Not at all—that's actually my sweet spot. I build the app. I train you to use it. You don't need to understand how it works behind the scenes any more than you need to understand your car's engine to drive it.

I built a 3,000-person organization of non-technical people. I know how to build tools that regular people actually use—not just tech people.

Here are the signs that off-the-shelf software isn't cutting it:

• You've tried 2–3 apps and none of them do things the way you need
• You're using a spreadsheet because no app fits your situation
• You're paying for features you don't use and missing features you need
• Your tracking system lives in your head, and if you're unavailable, things fall apart
• You've thought "I wish this app just did ___"

If any of those resonate, a custom build probably makes sense. If you're not sure, the AI Jumpstart Session is designed exactly for that — you'll leave knowing whether a custom app is right for you and what it would look like.

AI Jumpstart Session

It's a 2-hour hands-on session where you'll see real custom apps in action, watch one get built live using AI, and identify the single tool that would make the biggest difference in your life or organization.

It's not a lecture or a sales pitch. It's an experience designed to show you what's possible — and help you figure out your own next step, whatever that looks like.

Anyone who's curious about what AI can do for regular people — not just tech companies. It's especially valuable for:

• People who feel disorganized but aren't sure what tool would help
• Anyone who's heard about AI but doesn't know where to start
• Families or organizations considering a custom app but not ready to commit
• People who might want to learn to build their own tools

You don't need any technical background. Just an open mind.

No preparation needed. Just bring a device you'd want to use an app on — phone, tablet, or laptop — and show up curious. I'll handle the rest.

Yes — the session works for individuals and groups. If you're part of a homeschool co-op, church leadership team, or any small organization, it can be a great shared experience. Everyone in the room will identify their own "One Thing" and leave with a clear picture of what's possible.

The $99 fee is per person. If you'd like to bring a group, contact me to discuss group arrangements.

That's entirely up to you. At the end of the session, I'll share three paths forward:

Build your own: You'll know what's possible and which tools to use. Some people take what they've learned and start building on their own — and that's a great outcome.

Book a Discovery Call: If you want to explore having a custom app built for you, we'll talk through your specific situation and I'll give you a clear quote.

Do nothing: If the timing isn't right, no problem. You'll still walk away with a clearer understanding of AI and what it can do for your life.

No pressure in any direction. The session delivers value on its own.

Pricing & Payment

It depends on complexity, but here are the ranges:

Quick App Build: $500–$1,000 (single-purpose, ~1 week)
Custom Family App: $1,500–$3,000 (multi-feature, 2–3 weeks)
Organization App: $2,500–$5,000 (multi-user, 3–4 weeks)

Every build includes a design session where we map your situation together, hands-on training, and 30 days of follow-up support. You'll get an exact quote after our Discovery Call — before you commit to anything.

It used to be. Traditional custom software could cost $10,000–$50,000+. But I use modern no-code platforms and AI-assisted development, which makes custom apps accessible at a fraction of that cost.

Consider this: if you're paying $20–$50/month for 2–3 subscription apps that don't even fit your needs, that's $480–$1,800 per year — every year. A custom app that costs $1,500 once and actually works? That pays for itself faster than you'd think.

Not ready for a full build? The AI Jumpstart Session is $99 and will show you exactly what's possible before you invest in anything bigger.

Simple and transparent:

AI Jumpstart Session: $99 via e-transfer before the session
App Builds: 50% deposit before I start building, 50% upon delivery and training

For Quick App Builds under $750, I may accept full payment upfront at your preference. No monthly fees from me — you own the app.

The app build itself is a one-time cost. Every build includes 30 days of follow-up support at no extra charge.

After that, I offer optional long-term support and app enhancements if you need them — but there's no obligation. Many clients learn to make simple changes themselves.

The platform your app runs on (typically Google AppSheet) is free for personal use and very affordable for small organizations. I'll explain exactly what to expect on our Discovery Call — no hidden platform fees.

Every build includes 30 days of follow-up support for minor tweaks and questions — at no extra charge.

After that, you have options. I can teach you to make your own changes, or I can handle enhancements and ongoing support for you. We'll find the right arrangement based on your comfort level and needs.

My philosophy is to build your independence, not your dependence on me.

The Build Process

We talk for 30 minutes — free, no obligation. You tell me what's not working — the spreadsheets, the paper lists, the apps that don't fit, the things falling through the cracks. I listen, ask questions, and identify the one tool that would make the biggest difference.

By the end of the call, you'll have clarity on what a solution looks like. If we're a good fit, I'll follow up with a clear scope and quote. If we're not, I'll tell you that too — and point you somewhere better.

No pitch. No pressure.

Four simple steps:

1. Discovery Call (free, 30 min): We identify the one tool that would make the biggest difference.

2. Design Session: We map your situation together and design the right tool — the fields, the views, the workflow. This is included in every build.

3. Build & Refine: I build your app. You see progress along the way and give feedback. We refine until it fits the way you actually live and work.

4. Train & Launch: I walk you through everything — how to use it, how to make simple changes, and where to reach me if questions come up. You're running with 30 days of support included.

Faster than you'd expect:

Quick App Build: ~1 week
Custom Family App: 2–3 weeks
Organization App: 3–4 weeks

These are working days from when we agree on scope and I receive the deposit. I'll give you a specific timeline on the quote.

Not much. The Discovery Call and Design Session are where I learn most of what I need. During the build, I might ask you to:

• Review a work-in-progress and give feedback (15–20 minutes)
• Answer a few clarifying questions via email or text
• Share any existing data you want imported (spreadsheets, lists, etc.)

I respect your time. You won't be doing homework.

That's completely normal — and it's exactly what the Discovery Call is for. You don't need to come with a spec sheet or a feature list.

Just tell me what's frustrating you. Where you're losing time. What keeps falling through the cracks. I'll translate your pain points into a clear app concept. That's my job.

If you're not even sure a custom app is right for you, the AI Jumpstart Session is a great first step — you'll leave knowing exactly what would help most.

Absolutely. I share progress along the way so you can see it taking shape and give feedback. This isn't a black box where I disappear for three weeks and hope you like what I built.

We refine together until it fits the way you actually live and work.

Because we design together upfront and you see progress throughout the build, surprises are rare. But if something isn't right, I'll fix it — that's included.

My goal is a tool you actually use every day, not something that sits on your phone collecting dust. If it's not working for you, it's not done yet.

Technical Questions

It depends on the project. I use a combination of no-code platforms, AI tools, and traditional development — and I choose the best tool for the job.

Most household and organization apps are built on Google AppSheet — a no-code platform that connects to Google Sheets and Google Drive. For more advanced projects, I also build with AI tools and custom code when needed.

I'll explain which approach makes sense for your situation on the Discovery Call. You don't need to know or care about the technology — you just need the tool to work.

Yes. The apps I build work on iPhone, Android, tablets, and any web browser. You can access your app from whatever device is closest — no special equipment needed.

For most builds, yes — a free Google account is needed. If you already use Gmail or Google Drive, you're set. If not, creating one takes about two minutes and costs nothing.

If Google isn't right for your situation, we'll discuss alternatives on the Discovery Call.

This is one of the biggest reasons people choose a custom-built app over a free one. When you use free apps, you're usually the product — your data gets sold, your usage gets tracked, and you're forced to view ads. My apps are completely different.

No ads — ever. No banners, no pop-ups, no "upgrade to remove ads."
No data selling. I make money building apps, not harvesting your information.
No third-party tracking. No venture-capital-funded company is mining your family's data.

Your data lives on Google infrastructure — not on a startup's servers. I have developer access for building and maintaining your app, the same way your accountant has access to your books. As a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), I'm bound by a code of ethics that goes beyond a typical app developer. And you can revoke my access at any time.

For clients who require full data isolation, I also offer an enhanced privacy model where everything is transferred to your own Google account after the build — but most clients prefer the standard model once they understand the professional safeguards in place.

Yes. Family apps can be shared with household members. Organization apps are designed for 2–50 users with appropriate access levels — so a volunteer coordinator sees different things than a church member, for example.

I'll explain any platform costs related to multi-user access on the Discovery Call so there are no surprises.

After the Build

Yes. The app lives in your account. You own it. There's no licensing fee, no "you can only use it while you're my client" clause. It's yours.

Yes — simple changes like adding new options to a dropdown, adjusting labels, or tweaking views are things most clients learn to do themselves. I cover the basics during your training session.

For bigger changes — new features, new screens, or data restructuring — I'm available for app enhancements. Or if you want to learn to do it yourself, I can teach you that too.

My philosophy: Do → Teach to Do → Teach to Teach to Do. Building your independence is the goal.

That's common — and it's a good sign. It means you're using the app and seeing new possibilities.

You can make simple changes yourself (I'll have trained you on the basics), or reach out to me for app enhancements or ongoing support. Apps that grow with you are apps that last. I design for that from day one.

Absolutely. Many clients start with a Quick App Build and come back for a bigger project once they see how much time it saves. We skip the "getting to know you" phase the second time, which usually makes the process even faster.

I love that question. I offer guided coaching where you build your own app with my help — using the same no-code tools and AI assistance I use. You don't need a technical background.

The AI Jumpstart Session is a great first step if you want to see what's involved. From there, we can talk about coaching that fits your goals and comfort level.

My philosophy: Do → Teach to Do → Teach to Teach to Do. If you want to learn to build, I want to teach you.

Yes. Everything I build is delivered digitally — Discovery Calls happen on video, apps are shared through the cloud, and training is done over screen share. I work with clients across Canada and can accommodate other time zones.

That said, I'm based in Ontario, so if you're local, that's a bonus.
